The Fathers

Father Day was a good day. Although like every other day for the past MONTH, it was EXTRA HOT! Micah was SO excited about Father's day and thought that we should begin celebrating 3 or 4 days in advance. He only tried to tell Stacy what we got him once, not bad if you ask me. Stacy was so happy to get a watch that is a calorie counter, heart rate monitor, pedometer.... etc. We also got him a new tape measure and took him to lunch at one of his favorites Bugaboo Creek. We had a wonderful relaxing day together before heading the The Rents for supper.
We, of course had a pool party. What's a family get together in 98 degree weather without the pool? We swam in the what now feels like a bath tub, swimming pool. And had fun spending family time together. Here is a picture of me and my Daddy. Sorry my eyes aren't opened, Stacy tried to take 4. I don't know if I've ever shared this, but I have a VERY hard time keeping my eyes open for pics, especially with my good camera. Anyways here we are. Business partners, friends :)

How you feeling?

Hot Hot Hot! Man it has been hot outside for the last several days. All I can think about is being in the the AC or being in the pool. But on Monday Stacy had a day off, the first one in a while and he really wanted to do something fun. Fun for us and fun for Micah tend to be totally different things, but as long as Micah's happy everyone is more likely to be happy. So instead of doing something expensive that Stacy really wanted to do like (go to the GA aquarium) We filled our day with cheap, and free things close to home. We hit the library which is one of Micah's favorite places. Then we let him choose lunch and enjoyed lunch at Honey Baked Ham.

After lunch Micah really wanted to go to another one of his favorite places..... The Mall! We let him play and we shopped for a while. We went to Old Navy and bought him some new swim shorts and then did something that I said I would never ever do. It was Stacy's idea, and it went along with Micah's perfect day..... We took him and let him play in the fountain!

He had SO much fun! I'm thinking that he liked it as much if not more than our recent trip to The Pendergrass Flea Market (He loved going there and only said "Wow," 15+ times) There was not one thing at the flea market that made me say wow.... so that's how easily Micah is entertained! :)
To end our wonderful "Micah Perfect Day," we stopped by Scoops on the way home (surprise surprise) We all had a sweet treat and were cool and satisfied. :)

Blueberries

Another good thing about summer is blueberries. Some of the first plants that we planted when we moved into our house were blueberry bushes. I believe we planted 3 and only one of the original 3 is still living. We added 2 more this year and the 1 that we've had for years is happier than ever. Mama has a lot of blueberry bushes and there was never a shortage at the Sims house. Anyone and everyone was welcome to pick. I'd Love to have that many one day. At our house we average about a cup, that's enough to make one yummy blueberry cobbler (one of the only fruity desserts I'll eat.) Last week while I was cutting the grass Micah discovered some of the berries were blue. He picked and picked. Doesn't he look happy :)

Summer Favorites

My doctor told me that it wouldn't be a good idea to go on a family vacation in July this year. He told me that if you have a baby out of state that you'd have to stay in that state for 6 weeks. Is that true? My main concern would be that my insurance wouldn't cover the birth. I cried anyway. I Really wanted to go. Since he didn't think it was a good idea, we decided to just stay home.
So far the summer has been full of my favorite things like the swimming pool and watermelon. I doesn't get much better than that in GA. For 8 days in a row Micah and I enjoyed swimming at the Rent's. Ms. Martha and Hannah joined us every day until they left for vacation. We had a lot of fun.
I was planning on having Micah take swim lessons this year, but before I knew it, the pool was opened and I bought him another floating suit. I didn't know if teaching him to swim this year would be a good idea, with me being extra round and all. But last Monday I took his swimsuit top off just to see if he could touch the bottom of the pool, and on his tip tip toes he could!! (He's a little short) Anyway, last Monday and Tuesday I worked with him on swimming and tried to teach him the best that I could. I think he did okay. Then on Friday we had family swim. He was trying to fill up a bucket of water and fell into the water without his float top on, in the Deep End, and He swam!! I was so surprised. I did go into the deep end and bring him in the shallow end, but I was thrilled! Maybe by the end of summer he'll be an expert, but until then I'm still keeping a close eye on him!

Micah's "Brand New Room"

I know it's taken a while, but Micah has actually been in his "brand new room" for about 3 weeks now. Stacy redid everything in the room. The front room in our house was the only room that had been untouched in the 6 years we've lived here. When we found out that we were adding another person to our house we knew that we'd be doing a lot of rearranging and decluttering. Micah's new room was once a guest room, then it was a playroom, now it's his bedroom. Every room that Stacy touches looks better then the one before. So right now Micah's room is my most favorite. Take a look at the trim!! Stacy not only made these judge boxes, but he redid all of the window and door trim and hung crown. I love the color of paint.... it's my favorite right now. The pictures hardly do the room justice, but come and see it in person and I believe you'll love it as much as me! BTW the TV WILL NOT stay in Micah's room, we have yet to add another line.... That will be done soon, in the meantime, the remote control remains high up in Micah's closet :)

So Busy

Ever since Micah has been out of school, I feel like we have been SO busy! So far we've had lots of fun, and gotten a couple of things accomplished. Some of the fun things have been going to the park
And playing in the yard. Micah is still an outside boy. He LOVES his playset and his sandbox, but when he discovered caterpillars, you've never seen a boy so happy! He caught every one that he could and carried them all over the place.
Just when I thought that caterpillars where the thing that made Micah the happiest, we heard the sweet sounds of the icecream bus. Micah asked me at least once a week throughout the winter and spring if the icecream bus was coming. He finally stopped asking about a month ago, and now she's back! Micah LOVES the icecream bus! He can even do a great imitation of the music that it makes :)
Stacy and I celebrated 6 years of marriage on May 22nd. There are no pictures, but it was a Wonderful day! Stacy surprised me with a prenatal massage at Spa Sydel. It was great! I haven't had a massage in a long time and I enjoyed every single second of it. After my massage (did I say how much I loved it.) We went to The Chessecake Factory (surprise surprise) I just love it! We had a delicious dinner and then just headed home for a quiet Micahless evening. Thank you a ton to Mama for keeping Micah.
The following evening we were able to attend the play Alice in Wonderland. My sweet cousin Hannah was in it and played the March Hare. She did a great job, and Ms. Martha did a wonderful job with her makeup, don't you think? Micah enjoyed the play and keeps asking me all kinds of questions about it. For example, he asks about the Girls of the Golden Afternoon, and why they kept saying "Ew." He asks "why was the white bunny always late." I am impressed that he actually paid attention, but he did and loved it.

This year for Memorial Day we attended the annual parade in Dacula. We were afraid that it might get rained out, but it turned out to be very nice. The actual parade was bigger than ever this year. We sat in our regular spot and there were hardly any childen in the area, therefore Micah racked up on the candy! He knew he was getting alot and kept talking about it, he was so excited.
After the parade we hit Sonny's and went to The Rents for a swim party. We swam and had fun. Stacy and Cary cooked supper on the grill and as always, it was yummy.

After supper we celebrated Jerms' birthday. Daphne made a delicious Double Doozie cake, but before we could even cut it, it disappeared. Some one stole the cake! We looked ALL over the house and even outside in people's cars. No one would admit to hiding the cake, but finally it was found on The Rents' bed! We laughed and laughed and then played the blame game. Until today most people don't know who really hid the cake.... I know, but I won't tell :)
